I should have taken a picture of her while they were moving her into her new room because she had no crazy headgear at the time. But i didn't. Instead i took this awful mugshot.
Look, ociffer, i dint take all that stuff. Dunno what they talkin about.

And here's the same baby without awful flash.

A nice day today, both Christine and i got to hold the baby (i got to see her without the hat and tubes while she was awake, which was awesome). She got moved to a room of her own today, since she's a bit fussy and they thought the quite would be nice for her. Pretty much every time she moves she screws up the delicate arrangement of her breathing apparatus, so anything they can do to keep her from squirming...
We found out that the only reason they're keeping her O2 concentration higher than room air is to keep her blood oxygen at a higher level than what people normally have. Turns out that more oxygen in the blood helps with pulminary pressure, which is something they're focusing on with her. She actually breaths okay without the CPAP setup but she's going to stay on it for now and probably for a few more days just so we can all be on the safe side. In the meantime she's eating great, she's pretty calm and sleepy without having to get any morphine or sedatives and her condition is improving.
I followed up on something that one of the neonatologists mentioned the other day, that an occupational therapist was going to take a look at Tuesday and assess her back arching. When she's upset and fussing and crying she arches her back. I asked the nurse today if that was really all that abnormal and she replied that it may be and that they might need to help her stretch her muscles in the other direction. Are we seeing the next manifestation of her genetic condition? It's too early to say but it was a bit sobering an end to a great visit.
I think that, sadly, i'm subconsciously telling myself that no baby this alert and beautiful and wonderful could possibly grow up anything but perfect.
